Another: Drones and How They Are Flying Into Our Lives

Everyone has seen South Park, specifically Season 18 Ep. 5. The boys use a drone to go snooping around their neighborhood they end up seeing something they shouldn't and the drone gets spotted, unfortunately this leads to the cops along with everyone else using drones and nobody gets their privacy. Long story short it started with a couple of kids misusing a drone that starts a domino effect that is much less than ideal.

So how does this idea make an average american feel? Well they'd say that it is a breach in privacy because we like to jump to conclusions, most people would say that they don't like the idea of a drone force flying around without us knowing whether or not they're there watching our every move?

However the drones aren't specifically just going to be rolled out and used everywhere, they will just be used
in circumstances where a birds eye view via drone is the most efficient way to find somebody when they get lost.
So I can't imagine that the police would ever use them outside of the woods and way away from our houses, we likely
won't ever see them in action because their sole purpose is for finding people when they can't find their way back.
Thankfully for us there is no stress of being spied on by the police, not yet.

  1. Your use of the South Park episode is a good hook.

Is there a specific news story you are referencing in your discussion of drones? What about the global news related to technology?

  2. Do you know what percentage of the population is against the use of drones for surveillance?
